US Embassy Hosts The Great American Barbecue

“Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it's a start.”  -Anthony Bourdain

For me the word barbecue has two distinct meanings- for one it is a cooking technique for meats or other types of food over open flame or fire; and second it could also refer to entertaining people at a gathering when barbecue is being serve. Glad I was able to enjoy both definitions and more so even happier to share the experience with the great people of the US Embassy as they host #TheGreatAmericanBBQ.

Hiyaa! Let’s enjoy the night with awesome hearty treats and drinks courtesy of the US Embassy at The Great American Barbecue!

Barbecue is something universal, like in every town or region around the world there is a unique way of enjoying grilled foods but in America, they do it better as a form of celebration enjoyed casually in a more relaxed ambiance where you can come as you are and just keep the good ole times roll….

My invitation came from Michael S. Klecheski, the Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy in Manila- I was very thrilled to receive it and all I have on my mind is great barbecue and it went on for days.

Having a blast at #TheGreatAmericanBBQ night. Thank you so much Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States of America Michael Klecheski and Agricultural Counselor Ralph Bean of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for inviting me once again. It is always a great honor and pleasure to celebrate American culture with you. Cheers!#ILoveAmerica

May 15, Tuesday- the US Embassy event “The Great American Barbecue” is scheduled at 6 PM at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence in North Forbes Park in Makati City and the theme for the night is Red, White and Blue- which is just appropriate in representing America. I'm ready!

Organized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA-FAS) in collaboration with U.S. Meat Export Federation and local trade partners, the event is presented in a genuine American style, wherein event organizers hand over cowboy hats, western red bandana and a fan with the US flag. The American true-blue spirit fills the air while the delectable smell of the barbecue outside at the garden tickles my taste buds and luring my tummy to dig in.

Recognizing the Philippines as a key market in the Southeast Asia region, for U.S. agricultural products, our country is also the largest market for high-quality U.S. food and beverage (F&B) products in this region. As a way of honoring the strong connection between two allied countries, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service in partnership with U.S. Meat Export Federation, organized this event to celebrate friendship and as a way for people in the same industry to mingle and casually bond together.

Hiyaa! It was an unforgettable event for me to be able to experience the true American vibe while enjoying good food #TheGreatAmericanBarbecue way. Looking forward to 4th of July!

Transforming Lives: The Impact of SM Group's KSK Program on Filipino Farmers

Farming futures Jayson and Juanito proudly showcase a selection of produce at the SM City Clark’s Weekend Market. While modern agricultural techniques boost yields for some, there remains a number of Filipino farmers who struggle to keep pace. These experienced hands find themselves falling behind in a market demanding higher production, clinging to familiar yet often inefficient methods passed down through generations. One farmer from Pampanga, Jayson Garcia, sought to disrupt this prevailing narrative in his family. He knew that he had to chart a new course forward for his farm and innovate to remain competitive within the rapidly evolving landscape of modern agriculture. “Noon, mahirap ang magtanim,” he recalled their life before joining SM Foundation’s Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan. “Para bang tsambahan, basta pag itinanim mo ‘yan, hintayin mo na lang mamunga. Mas mahirap pa lalo kapag nagkaroon ng kalamidad,” he added.  SM Foundation’s training program focused on high-value cr...
